The radiator has fins and tubes. The engine coolant is pumped by the engine coolant pump through a pipe. The coolant is hot and comes from the engine. As it passes through the radiator tubes, the heat is transferred to the fins. The radiator will have a fan, either electric or driven by the engine crankshaft through a series of pulleys and belts that blow the cooled ambient air through the radiator fins. Heat from the fins is transferred to cold air for heating. This process takes away the heat from the engine.
